Hello Kerry,
I am an exchagne student in Finaldn and anothough I had no problem convincing my parents to let me go as they are long time members of Rotary and supporters of the exchagne they were still really nervous about me going.
I say make sure you tell your parents that it is your DREAM to go and stay in another country. Exchange is also one of the best ways to experience anothe country becasue for that time you are not a visitor, but a member of a family there. You are a part of whatever country you are going to. I already find myslef accustomed to the finnish culture and I love the fact that people don't treat me as a tourist.
make sure your parents know as well that you will stay with host families that for that time will be your parents, they will give you curfews and tell you what you can and con not do.
Also..give them info on the exchange program. Get them into contact with your local Rotary group and the local YEO. They will be able to give them more info.
